Weddings, Functions, Funerals and Civil Unions.
Repertoire includes romantic Spanish serenades, upbeat Venezuelan valses, Brazilian choros, a Japanese folk song variation and many more to contribute to the atmosphere of your event.
Hailing from Rathdrum, Co. Wicklow – Michael has studied Classical Guitar for over 10 years. Initially, under the tutelage of David Creevy, current principal of the County Wexford School of Music, and music theory under Dara Black and Catherine Noone. He then studied under Leslie Cassidy at DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama to complete the BMus Performance Honours degree. Having already successfully earned a Foundation Music degree, Michael has focused his attention on Pedagogy (Educational Studies). He has worked with students who have Special Needs, largely through his association with the Williams Syndrome Association of Ireland Music Camp and has a keen interest in Music Therapy.
He has performed in many venues between Wicklow and Dublin, including the Tap Café, The Grainstore Restaurant, Aughrim and in the Wicklow School of Music‘s 10 Year Anniversary Concert, The Red Bank Wine Bar, Duke Street and St. Finian’s Church. Most recently, he performed his first solo concert in St. Saviour’s Church, Rathdrum which was greatly received and he was heard accompanying the DIT Chamber Choir in their annual Christmas Concert. He is involved in numerous chamber and Jazz ensembles with whom he performed at weddings, Corporate Events and in recital settings.
Primarily focused on performing classical guitar, Michael also teaches from his home in Wicklow and having taught many students over the past years he has gained a lot of experience in this area. Teaching classical and acoustic guitar, as well as music theory, basic singing and basic piano techniques – guiding experienced and inexperienced musicians in performance, technique, aural and theory. All students are welcome ranging from children to adults and beginners to advanced as well as students with differing inhibitions such as special needs and learning difficulties.
